Manual: merging your account to Battle.net

In preparation for the launch of these new features, on  November 12, 2009  , all current World of Warcraft players will be required to  merge their World of Warcraft accounts with a Battle.net account  in order to log in to the game.

Since Zimpo could not really understand how to merge your account with a battle.net one, I made a little manual:

Step 1	Visit the Battle.net website at http://eu.battle.net/. Then click the button to create or manage a battle.net account.
Step 2	Click on Sign up Now! on the right to start the creation progress.
Step 3	On the next page you select your country. When selected you will have to agree with the Battle.net agreements, scroll down in the text box till you reach the bottom so you can tick te checkboxes beneath it and continue.
Step 4	You will now be asked to select a username and password for Battle.net (you can use the same as you use for WoW since it is from Blizzard). Fill in the captcha and continue.
Step 5	Now you will be asked to fill in your account details, fill these in correctly. At the bottom you have the choice to receive the newsletter from blizzard. If you want too, select this box (this is not necessary).
Step 6	On the next step you'll see a summary of what you filled in, verify if everthing is correct and agree once again with the agreements before you continue.
Step 7	Great success! When everything goes according to plan your account will be created.
Step 8	Before you continue check your mailbox. It will contain a link to verify your battle.net account. Click it, otherwise you will ont be able to merge with WoW. The mail will look something like this:
Step 9	After you have clicked this link you are able to merge your account. To do this click the Begin Merge button on top.

And finally: Step 10
You will now be asked for the account name and password you CURRENTLY use to loging on WoW.

As for the next steps I cannot proceed since I already have merged my account. However, I was asked for my CD-key of WoW to verify my WoW is legimit.


Once merged you will have to login on WoW with your email-adress and password from battle.net!


Make sure your Realmlist.wtf file (C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enGB\realmlist.wtf) is according to the following:

set portal eu

this is done because Battle.net now makes a difference between EU and US.
